The Big Think at the Andrew Young School in Atlanta

Two hundred professors, researchers, and staff gathered for The Big Think—to identify the new strategic direction for the Andrew Young School of Policy Studies. It was a pleasure to partner with Nancy Wolk and the eMentorConnect team to facilitate this fast-paced, engaging event. How do you capture the insight of 200 brilliant minds? Each table had a volunteer facilitator equipped with a laptop and Padlet app. We discussed, debated, and typed up 20 table groups’ conclusions to a large group visioning exercise. Special thanks to Dean Sally Wallace for her leadership, and Tyler Rogers for managing the 10,000 things that had to go just right.

Strategic Planning For ACS HPV Vaccination Program

Did you know there is an extremely safe and effective vaccination for HPV-related cancers? (See here). On Tuesday I worked with one of my favorite teams—and some of the amazing people behind the American Cancer Society’s attempt to promote HPV vaccination. From a funky loft in Durham, we worked on mapping possible strategic futures for this intrepid, creative and passionate group.

Change Planning at Andrew Young School for Policy Studies

I spent an intense and productive two days with eMentorConnect and faculty and staff of the Andrew Young School for Policy Studies in Atlanta. We created plans for a change initiative, mapped out a learning journey and, yes, built towers from tinker toys. It’s a pleasure to work with such brilliant scholars and staff as they prepare the school for the future.

Comprehensive Cancer Control National Partners HPV Workshop

I spent last week in Houston with the Comprehensive Cancer Control National Partners and eleven teams of public health experts as they reviewed evidence-based best practices and developed strategies to promote HPV vaccination in their states. Thanks to our wonderful host MD Anderson and the many exceptional scientists, public health experts, and facilitators who made this work possible.

ACS Navigation Roundtable

I had the good fortune of spending Friday, August 10 in Denver with Monica Dean and the chairpersons of the ACS Nationwide Navigation Roundtable.  We spent the day working on project plans to eliminate barriers to quality cancer care, reduce disparities in health outcomes, and foster ongoing health equity.  Kudos to these scientists and health professionals working on the frontier of an exciting movement.
